James Harold Couick Harold Couick, much loved husband, father, special granddaddy, brother and friend passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014. Harold was born December 4, 1939 to Maude Flow Couick and Aubrey David Couick. He was President and owner of TA Materials Handling, Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1985. Harold was a dedicated member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church, a Mason and Shriner. An avid baseball player and bird hunter in his younger years, he naturally transitioned to softball and deer hunting and enjoyed sharing those passions with friends and family alike. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Caroleene Helms Couick; son, David Scott Couick; daughter, Dana Couick McGuirt and son-in-law, William L. (Bill) McGuirt; three grandchildren, Molly Couick, Grace Couick and Jacob Couick; brother, Ney(Mary) Couick; sisters, Bertha Price, Catherine Cannon, Jean McWhorter, Helen (Bill) McAteer and Doris (George) Mungo. His parents preceded him in death as did his brother, Harley Couick and sister, Ruby Simpson. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Greg Brouse and the staff of the Levine Cancer Center of Monroe. When asked what accomplishments he wanted to be remembered for, Harold said, “I just want to be remembered as a good man.” And he is. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, North Carolina 28112. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gordon Funeral Chapel with full Masonic burial to follow immediately after at Lakeland Memorial Park.
