James William Farmer, 85, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was the son of the late Belton Gaston Farmer and Mary Fuller Farmer of Hamlet, NC. Bill, as he was known, graduated from Hamlet High School, served in the U.S. Air Force, attended Elon College and Kings Business College. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mollie Farmer Black of Hamlet, NC. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Emery Farmer, and their children Jim Farmer wife Kathy of Farmer of Wingate, and Teresa Farmer Truelove husband Ken of Anderson, SC. The grandchildren include Cody Farmer and wife Meghan, Kevin Farmer, Conner Farmer, Colton Farmer, Daniel Truelove and wife Morgan, Steven Truelove, and Leah Truelove. “Mr. Bill”, as he was lovingly called by many, was a long time resident of Charlotte, NC, where he was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. After the family relocated to Wingate, NC, he continued to serve the Lord as a devoted member of Faulks Baptist Church in Marshville. Bill loved the Lord, his church, his family, and all things relating to his family genealogy. He served as President of The Farmer Clan Reunion for over 40 years. Visitation will be Monday, January 1, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Faulks Baptist Church, 2234 Faulks Church Rd, Marshville, NC 28103. Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, burial is to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the building fund of Faulks Baptist Church.
