Obituary

James Harry Graham, 76, of Monroe, NC, passed away at home Wednesday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by loving family and friends.

He was born March 27, 1950, in Roseboro, NC, to the late James Neil Graham and Mary Lois Godwin Graham. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Baxter Graham, sister Julia Graham and his loving wife of 44 years, Peggie Rorie Graham.

“Jim,” as he was lovingly known by many family and friends, as well as “Harry” and the endearing “Chunky,” bestowed upon him by his wife, worked for many years as an insurance claims adjuster. His favorite hobbies included fishing trips to one of his and Peggie’s favorite places, the Outer Banks, as well as gardening, traveling, and telling tales as unique as his numerous nicknames.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Evans Dockery, son Andrew Graham (Pon); grandchildren Tyler Dockery, Walker Dockery, Levi Graham, Emma Graham, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by sisters Erma Thornton (Andy) and Betsy Cicilese (John).

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Jennifer Dockery.

The family would also like to extend many special thanks to Chunky’s loving care team, including Kelli Stevenson, Lisa McClain, Katheryn Davis, Kaitlyn Grissom, Joanna Segee, Maddox Segee, Masyn Segee and Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care Union.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Beulah Presbyterian Church, 8305 Landsford Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
