James Andrew Hancock

Dateline: Wingate, NC James Andrew Hancock, 88, passed away July 19, 2012 at CMC-Union. Years of living by faith ended in “sight” for James. He was a faithful witness for Christ until his last breath. His church family and his witness for Christ were his purpose and passion in life. He was born in Union County on October 27, 1923, son of the late Walter and Rebecca Hancock. Also, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Privette Hancock. As a child, he worked with his father and Uncle Henry on a vegetable farm in Waxhaw. He retired from Consolidated Metco (ConMet) as an inspector. Funeral will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Centerview Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Hancock will lie in state one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centerview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2711 Old Pageland-Marshville Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
