James (Jimmy) David Summers, 79, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2026. He was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina December 3, 1946, son of the late Frank & Connie Summers, he is also preceded in death by his Frankie Allen.

Jimmy spent most of his career as a long haul truckdriver where he was able to travel all over the United States. He married Barbara in 1967, and they spent 59 years together beginning in Charlotte but moved to country to spend their retirement and enjoy the slower pace of life. Jimmy & Barbara enjoyed traveling to the mountains and up and down the coast visiting various sights but really loved the lighthouses, which they saw many. After retiring, he would spend his days working in the yard and piddling in his garage. They also found their love for auctions, yard sales, and flea markets which they always enjoyed together.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Tammy (Darrell) Phillips, grandchildren, Kristy Howard, Wesley (Dani) Howard, and great grandchildren, Briggs, Max, and Zoey.

In accordance with his wishes a private memorial will be held at a later date.
