James Phillip "Phil" Mcguirt

March 7, 1933 — June 6, 2024

James Phillip McGuirt was born on March 7, 1933, to the late James Edwin and Ruby Rogers McGuirt. Phil passed away from this life on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Phil was also preceded in death by his sister Betty McGuirt Funderburk, son-in-law Marion Funderburk, and his son Rodney McGuirt.

Phil enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, reading, working on tractors, and building homes for bluebirds. Many nights were spent exploring the stars and sharing his love and knowledge of them with others.

His true passion was gardening and watching things grow, never tiring of seeing what God’s earth could produce; and enjoyed sharing his bounty with family, friends, and neighbors.

He leaves behind his daughters Debra Funderburk (late Marion Funderburk) of Wesley Chapel, NC, and Iris Whiteside (Lee) of Wilmington, NC. One grandson, Dr. H. Lee (Trey) Whiteside III of Nashville, TN. His loving brother Tommy McGuirt (Jackie), and two caring sisters; Jibby Keels (late Pat Keels) and Terry Helms (late Bill Helms) all of Wesley Chapel, NC.

Also left behind is Phil's devoted friend Charles (Redd) Osborne. Many nieces and nephews that he cared for dearly, as well as, his chosen children, Robin Stuebing; Isabella Stuebing; Kasidy Kumar; and Anna Jordon.

A private service will be held at a later date.
