Mr. James Leroy Jim Nixon, Sr., 84, of Monroe, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015. He was born September 28, 1931, in Cumberland, MD, to the late Harry and Daisy Nixon. Mr. Nixon retired from Lowe's Home Improvement as project manager. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stanley, where he was former president of the United Methodist Men , Chairman of the Financial Committee and Chairman of the Building Fund for the Family Life Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Leroy Nixon, Jr.; and two daughters, Deborah Ann Nixon and Valerie Johnson. Mr. Nixon is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Betty Wagner Nixon; daughter, Loraine Hager , seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.
