James Emory Pueschel (Jim), 84 of Monroe, Nc passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the son to the late George and Margaret Pueschel, he was born on May 3, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Kellie Elizabeth, granddaughter Shannon Lambeth, great granddaughter Casey Lambeth and sister Jude Seelhorst.
His life’s vocation was nursing, retiring from Presbyterian Hospital after 15 years of service. He proudly served in Viet Nam with the United States Navy as a corpsman assigned to the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Battalion, Mike Company. His great love was the outdoors. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 65 years, 20 years serving as Scout Master Troop 55 at Central United Methodist Church in Monroe. He also served from 1999-2017 on the Aquatics Staff at Camp Raven Knob having served on first camp staff in 1954. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10615. He was active in the Marine Corps League, Charles Hare Detachment 914. He loved his Marines and enjoyed working with their Toys for Tots Campaign.
He is survived by his wife, Paula, four sons Michael (Jane) of Winston-Salem, NC Emory (Lyn) of Matthews, NC Karl (Allie) of Indian Trail, NC, Martin (Mindy) of Monroe, NC, four daughters Teresa Slaughter of Winston-Salem, NC, Lisa Knight of Yadkinville, NC, Emma Bullock (Billy), and Cecelia Pueschel both of Myrtle Beach. SC, nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, his brother Rick Pueschel (Mary), of Chester, SC, and sisters Barbara Dalley (David) and Kerry Pueschel both of Monroe, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Benjamin A. Roberts officiating, with burial to follow with Military Honors in Lakeland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, with a Rosary at 2:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Operation Smile at www.operationsmile.org
