James "Doc" Sorber

Wingate, NC James Melvin “Doc” Sorber, 56, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Mr. Sorber was born in Texas, June 18, 1952 son of Mason Sorber and the late Nora Sorber. “Doc” was a US Army, Combat Medic, Vietnam veteran with the 173rd Airborne Division and a past Commander of the VFW Post #5464 in Monroe, NC. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2008 at 9:30 AM in the Wingate Baptist Church with military honors. Mr. Sorber is survived by his father Mason Sorber of Felton, Delaware; wife Laura Hammersley Sorber of Wingate, NC; daughters Desiree Sorber and Michelle Tomaszewski both of Austin, Texas; brothers Kenneth Sorber of North Branford, Connecticut, Mason Sorber of Branford, CT, John Sorber of Minnesota, Robin Sorber of Cheshire, CT and Russell Sorber of Meriden, CT; sisters Pam Willard of Wallingford, CT, Tracy Ouellette of Durham, CT and Carol Masse of Meriden, CT; grandchildren Elias Moran, Kelli and Allison Tomaszewski.
