James Talven Taylor

James (J.T.) Talven Taylor, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019. James was born to the late Fairley Lee Taylor and Minnie Faye Taylor on February 2, 1938. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Willis “Bill” Taylor and Everette Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lee Park Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110. The family will receive friends and family from 10:30am until 11:15am at Lee Park Church, prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park. J.T. owned and operated City Tire for many years and retired from the Union County Sherriff’s Office after 32 years of service. He also served in the military. J.T. was a Mason and a member of the Truth Lodge in Monroe and the Monroe Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife, Edith Poplin Taylor; daughter, Wendy Honeycutt; sister, Dean Whitley; and grandchildren, John and Taylor Honeycutt.
