Janet Anderson (Griffin) Young

Janet Griffin Young, 92, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. Janet was born on Oct. 9, 1921 to the late Thomas William and Kathleen Bell Griffin. She was a graduate of UNC Greensboro, she taught Home Economics in Indian Trail and retired as a Dietician at Union Memorial Hospital. Janet was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, and was also a member of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her loving husband George C. Young. Jr. Janet is survived by her sister Jerry Mills of Statesville, children; George C. Young III of Ooltewah TN., Cindy Cox (Dale) of Hillsville Va., Susan Steele (Eddie) of Easley SC., Betty Ann Thompson (Tom) of Unionville NC., and Bill Young of Monroe. She is also survived by her Grand Children; Seth and Morgan Young, Elizabeth Scarborough, Simon and Ethan Thompson, and Emily Young; Great Grandchildren; Mason and Hannah Young, and Finn Patrick Whalen. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, burial will follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00 pm until 9:00pm, Monday May 26, 2014 at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC, 28112.
