Mrs. Jean Morton Griffin, 79, of Monroe, NC passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020. She was born in Union County on March 20, 1941 to the late Silas Morton and Vessie Wright Morton. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Fletcher Morton, Leroy Morton (Ruth), Wesley Morton (Nancy); sister, Darlene Hargett and brother-in-law Carroll Deason. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at a later date. Jean is survived by her husband Robert “Pete” Griffin, son, Mitchell Griffin of Monroe, NC and daughter, Sonya Coogan(Matthew) of Matthews, NC, two brothers; Johnny Morton (Barbara) and Allen Morton (Debbie), three sisters, Judy Price (Ted), Tiny Laton (Calvin), and Clara Deason, two grandchildren, Camryn Coogan and Chloe Coogan.
