Jean (Braswell) Little

Jean Braswell Little, 95, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her residence. She was born August 3, 1922 in Union County, NC daughter to the late Arthur Garfield Ruth Maye Braswell. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years S. J. Little, a brother Bill G. Braswell, a sister Elizabeth Braswell LaRue, and a grandson John Barrett Gunter. Mrs. Little is survived by her daughter June Cameron and husband Kenneth, of Charlotte. Others mourning the loss include many attentive nieces and nephews, their children, her remaining brother-in-law, Cardell McCoy of Wingate, close friends she considered family, as well as caregivers and helpmates who enhanced her life. After her retirement from Wingate University Jean devoted herself fulltime to enriching the lives of her family with nurturing, caring, cooking, gardening, and a remarkable sense of humor. She was a beautiful woman inside and out who lived her life with a strong and quiet faith. She possessed intelligence wit, a lovely singing voice, a musical laugh, and an uncanny ability to make everyone around her feel better about themselves. Jean excelled at numerous endeavors, but especially at being a grandmother to her only grandchild, Barrett. Each thought the other was the cleverest person around. Their sense of humor was mutually admired. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 1, 2018 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC, 28112, officiated by Dr. Dennis Burton. The family will visit with friends following the service.
