Jeanette Hill Morrow, of Monroe, NC, passed away on April 4, 2019. She was 84. Jeanette was born in Monroe on August 5, 1934 to Appleton Boyce Hill and Eula Cox Hill. Jeanette is survived by daughters Beth Morrow Loflin (Brad) of Monroe, Lori Ann Morrow of Wilmington, and Gail Morrow Holcomb (Jeffrey) of Wilmington; granddaughters Hayden Alexandra Holcomb (8) and Hannah Elizabeth Holcomb (4); sisters Vera Little, Edith Fincher; brother Olin Hill; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Allen Morrow; her parents, Appleton and Eula Hill; and brothers Devon Hill, Cray Hill, Dennis Hill, and Dillon Hill.
Jeanette’s loves in life were her faith, her family and giving back to her community. Jeanette worked for several years as a dental assistant and then devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. Jeanette and Robert created an ideal family life for themselves and their three girls. Beth, Lori and Gail have so many wonderful memories to bring them comfort and to carry with them forever. Jeanette became a grandmother later in life but loved every minute of being Dabba to granddaughters Hayden and Hannah and they loved going to Monroe to visit her. Jeanette’s devotion to her family never wavered.
Jeanette had a heart of gold and always thought of others before herself. She spent many years volunteering for the American Red Cross, the Union County Christmas Bureau and as a tutor for the Literacy Council. Then, throughout life, she sought out ways to make a difference by donating to charities that were meaningful to her.
The family would like to thank Jeanette’s wonderful neighbors from the Foxmoor neighborhood of Monroe for their devoted friendship and support. Whether it was through food shared, calls exchanged, impromptu favors, or afternoon visits, these neighbors truly exemplify friendship.
She is already missed by all who knew and love her. Her girls now intend, and encourage all of you, to honor her life and memory by finding ways to carry forward her generous spirit and kind heart.
Visitation will be held at Gordon Funeral Service on Sunday, April 7 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
