Jerry Adcock

April 10, 1939 — August 31, 2025

Jerry William Adcock, 86, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of God who served his family, his country, and his community.

He was born on April 10, 1939, in Cabarrus County to the late Albert and Effie Adcock. Jerry graduated from Union High School in 1957 before joining the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Georgia Pressley, whom he lovingly referred to as “Georgia Mae.” This year, they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Together, they raised two daughters, Ann Marie and Tammie, in Mint Hill, North Carolina.

Jerry proudly served the City of Charlotte for 27 years as a Police Officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. When he wasn’t on duty, he could be found farming soybeans on his land in Anson County. Each year, he and Georgia grew a large garden, where they taught their daughters and grandchildren the value of hard work and many practical life skills. His grandchildren have fond memories of riding with him on his big red tractor. Jerry had a passion for planes and enjoyed flying small aircraft as a hobby.

After retiring, Jerry and Georgia fulfilled their dream of traveling up and down the East Coast in their fifth-wheel camper. They eventually purchased a second home in Winter Haven, Florida, where they formed lasting friendships and became part of a close-knit community.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Georgia Adcock; daughters Ann Marie Fisher (Scott) and Tammie Clontz (Todd); grandchildren Heather Turner (Luke), Hannah Ray (Dustin), Josh Clontz (Jess), and Jared Clontz; and great-granddaughters Caroline Turner, Claire Turner, and Annie Ray. He is also survived by his siblings Brenda Keels (Wally), James Adcock (Doris), and Joyce Helms (Tony).

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2817 Mt. Harmony Church Road, Matthews, NC 28105. A funeral service to celebrate his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
