Jerry Franklin Edwards, Sr., 70, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. He was born January 17, 1945, in Wilmington, NC to the late Joseph Franklin and Billie Black Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Harding High School and was a Police Officer with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. A member of Friendship Masonic Lodge, he enjoyed target shooting, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Osborne Edwards. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Edwards Parker and husband, Gary, of Monroe; son, Jerry Franklin Edwards, Jr., of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Union County and Jesse Helms Nursing Center for their love, care, and support of Mr. Edwards and his family.
