Jerry B. Henson, 88, of Waxhaw, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015. He was born on February 11, 1927 in Josephine, Texas to John Meniphee and Beulah Amanda Gleghorn Henson. He attended Southern Methodist University. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy who served during World War II and Korea. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Industrial Products after 43 years of service. He was a member of Waxhaw Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will always be remembered for his easygoing, approachable nature and his service to the Lord through his special gift of friendship. He loved his church, gospel music, horses, raising polled Hereford cattle, sharing a laugh, and being in the company of family and good friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Elnora Henson; daughter, Jan Hollingsworth; granddaughters, Jennifer Moore and husband, David Moore, Michelle Barker and husband, Scott Barker and Stephanie Lawson and husband, Eric Lawson; nine great grandchildren; Brittany Naylor and husband, Landy Naylor, Michael, Addison and Kaitlyn Moore, Jessica Crenshaw, Justin Barker, Rylee and Maycee Harper and Belle Lindsey as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and precious friends from far and wide. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Joe Henson and Camille Speer; daughter, Vickie Norman; and his granddaughter, Blythe Harper. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 1:00 until 1:45 PM to be followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Waxhaw Baptist Church in Waxhaw with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
