Jerry James Carnes, 32, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born in Union County on June 8, 1985, son of Jerry and Melissa Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a life long resident of Union County where he served as a Union County Sheriff’s Deputy for 12 years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2017 at Unionville Baptist Church, 510 Baucom Rd. Monroe NC 28110. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. In addition to his parents, Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Stafford Carnes, two step-sons, Brad Richardson and Justin Sherwood, step-daughter, Kailyn Sherwood, two sisters, Kimberly Hetzel and Samantha Carnes, two nieces, Natalie and Bailey Hetzel all from Union County, and grandfather, William H. Gardner, of Long Island NY In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, NC 28110.
