Jerry Wilson Mullis Sr. Born March 2, 1940 in Union County NC - Died May 26, 2021 while in the care of Hospice at Presbyterian Novant Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Funeral services for Coley will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. Entombment will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. During his life, Jerry Sr. went by the nickname Coley. Then later in life he was known as Big Coley to his family and close friends. Big Coley enjoyed working on drag cars, hot rods, going fishing at the beach, and spending time with family and friends. Coley is now in the presence of his parents Wade L. and Mary Purser Mullis, his brothers Leonard and Bill Mullis, his sisters Gladys Pagie and Lena Allen, and his son Robert (Robbie) Eugene Mullis. Coley was survived by his wife Peggy W. Mullis, his three children: Jerry Mullis Jr. (Melissa), Garry Mullis (Geraldine), and Julie Mullis; his four step-children: Rebecca Roberts (Chris), Mack Hinson, Sarah Crump (Jeremy), and Stephanie Kingaby (Simon); his 18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
