Joan Baucom Barbee

Mrs. Joan Baucom Barbee, 88, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was born in Union County on July 20, 1934, daughter of the late J. Loyd Baucom and Naomi Helms Baucom. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene Barbee.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Friday, February 24, 2022, at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 3619 Morgan Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28110, with burial following at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:00PM until 12:45PM prior to the service at the church.

Joan was a longtime member of Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Mitch Barbee (Katie) of Charlotte, two grandchildren; Taylor Barbee of Charlotte, Jonathon Barbee (Meredith) of Charlotte, one great-grandchild, Carter Barbee of Charlotte, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special gratitude to all the exceptional caregivers along with the support of the strong, countless community of friends who enabled Mrs. Barbee to be at home, especially Dr. Brownlee and her nurse, Jennifer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
