Joanne Colt McGowan, 84, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 4, 1931 daughter of the late Zenas Crane and Cynthia Means Colt. Mrs. McGowan was a graduate of Drexel University and received her Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a nutritionist for the State of Connecticut. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Monroe, NC. Mrs. McGowan is survived by a son, Jeffrey Colt McGowan, of Charlotte, NC, brothers, Zenas Marshall Crane Colt of Wakefield, RI, William Whitman Colt of Monroe, NC, sister, Frances Colt Schneidau of Southbury, CT and a granddaughter, Samantha Ruth McGowan of Charlotte, NC.
