Joe Darrell Griffin

Joe Griffin, 73, left this earth for a better place on September 1, 2021. He was born October 20, 1947, in Charlotte, NC to the late Joe D. Griffin of Portland, TN and Martha Garrison Griffin of Monroe, NC, where he spent most of his life. He joined Shiloh Baptist Church at the age of 12 years old. He graduated in 1965 from Sun Valley High School, Monroe, NC. Joe served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969 with the 2nd Squadron 14th Armored Cavalry that patrolled the East German and Czechoslovakia border known as the Last Frontier. He retired from AT&T after 34 years of service. Joe is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon, who he loved very much, his mother Martha Griffin, his Beagle Roscoe and his cat Nick. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. He would like to thank his family and Sharon’s family for all they have done, and he loved them very much. Joe will be interred at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, South Carolina in a military service.
