John Orion Sr. Steele

John Orion “J.O.” Steele, 93, of Waxhaw, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Pruitt Health-Union Point. He was born March 19, 1923, in Union County, a son of the late David Atwood Steele and Pearl Weir Steele. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Morris Steele, daughter, Patricia Steele Henry, sister, Lucille Steele, and brother, Leland Steele. Mr. Steele retired from the State of North Carolina, was a member of the Waxhaw Masonic Lodge #562, and a lifelong member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017, in Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mr. Steele is survived by two sons, John O. Steele, Jr. of Waxhaw, David Michael Steele of Indian Land, SC, five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.
