John David Williams, 87, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born January 11, 1929, in Union County, NC to the late Grady V. Williams, Sr., and Sarah Ann Strawn Williams. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 2811, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 Noon in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Williams is survived by his son, John David Mills of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Tanna Mills and husband Patrick Konecny of Monroe; one grandchild, Brandon Konecny and wife Rachel of Raleigh; brothers, Bill Williams of Pittsboro, Gene Williams of Monroe, Jimmy Williams of Monroe, and Tim Williams of Monroe; and sisters, Patsy Moore of Marshville and Nancy Bivens of Marshville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lynn Williams, brothers, Clayton Williams and Grady Williams; and sisters, Alice Williams, Annie Lee Hill, Helen Hargett, and Margaret Mills.
