Dateline: Monroe, NC Mr. Johnnie Ward Carnes 81, passed away Saturday March 5, 2011. He was born in Union County, NC February 3, 1930, son of the late Theron and Jennie Broom Carnes. Mr. Carnes was employed in the automotive repair service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Surviving is his wife Elizabeth Carnes of the home. Sons; Johnnie M. Carnes of Apex, NC and Johnnie “Butch” Carnes of Monroe. Daughter; Cynthia “Cindy” Deese of Monroe. Brothers; Walter Carnes of Marshville and Ray Carnes of Indian Trail. Sisters; Elsie Tucker of Monroe and Joyce Burgess, also 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
