Johnnie Mae Caskey Smith, 78, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013. She was born December 25, 1934, daughter of the late John Baxter and Ocey Brooks Caskey. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Smith; brothers, Roy Caskey and Perry Caskey, Sr. and sisters, Darrise Carter and Nancy Brown. She was an Air Force veteran and worked as an administrator at the Pentagon. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 3:00 PM in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3816 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Ms. Smith is survived by her son, James Franklin Smith of Monroe; daughters, Cynthia Beal of Tennessee, Shelia Taylor and Lisa Plattenburg, both of Monroe; grandchildren, Mickey Beal, Jr., Emily Judd, Amanda Sailer, Ashley Parson, Jessica Andreano, Tyler Rape, Sarah Smith, Michael Smith and Jayme Smith; and ten great-grandchildren.
