Johnnie Blair Young

Mrs. Johnnie Baucom Young, 93, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Brookdale Union Park in Monroe. She was born September 9, 1926 in Union County a daughter of the late Azer D. Baucom and Ruth Secrest Baucom. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louie C. Young, and siblings, A.D. Baucom, Jr., William “Bill” Baucom, Philip Baucom, Doris Daniels and Sue Hatley. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Lakeland Memorial Park. She is survived by her son, Michael "Mike" Young (Sarah) of Monroe, three grandchildren, Angie Rogers (Derek), Katie Hall (Michael), and Andrew Young (Ali), five great-grandchildren, Jacob Rogers (Angie), Meredith Hall, Liam Hall (Katie), Abigail Young and Adalynn Young (Andrew), also surviving are her sisters, Martha Rollins (Dallas) and Elanor Helms both from Monroe, as well as many nieces and nephews. Johnnie was a homemaker and an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Monroe. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was active in many committees and groups. She and her husband were active in Scouting and she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. She excelled in everything she did including being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Her family’s appreciation is extended to the staff of Brookdale Union Park for the wonderful care “Nana” received. The staff of Brookdale made every effort to ensure she received the best care possible throughout her residence.
