Johnny Eugene Adams

Johnny Eugene Adams, 82, of Monroe, NC passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was born in Union County, NC on June 16, 1941, son of the late Leroy Adams Sr. and Madelean Helms Adams. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Diane Adams, two brothers, Tom Adams and Leroy Adams, and sister Wanda Springs.

Johnny was a lifelong lover of southern gospel music, leading and singing tenor in a number of trios and quartets that traveled regionally to sing at churches, festivals, nursing homes, and just about anywhere people loved to hear good music. He was a choir and song leader at the churches he attended and one of his greatest joys was gathering around a piano to sing with his family.

The funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 26, 2024, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Libby Gordon Adams, son, Chris Adams, and wife, Karen, stepson, Jimmy Helms and wife, Heather, brother Larry Adams (Brenda), sister Marie Quick, eight grandchildren: Parker Adams, Riley Adams, Stradford Helms (Brooke), Tucker Helms (Kayce), Zoe Helms, Jameson Helms, Zeke Helms, and Lizzy Helms and two great-grandchildren: Gunner Helms and Knox Helms.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
