Johnny Glenn Latham

February 15, 1935 — July 10, 2021

Johnny Glenn Latham, 86, of Monroe, NC passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Union County on February 15, 1935 son to the late E. G. Latham and Helen Mae Holloway Latham. He is also proceeded in death by a sister-in-law Gail Fowler Latham, and a brother-in-law Tom McCaskill. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, 2613 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial to follow in Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery. Johnny was a loving husband, father, PawPaw and friend to many throughout his life. He graduated from Unionville High in 1954, and then started his career as a tool maker. Having a desire to be self-employed, he started growing ornamental plants in his backyard, which led to his founding of Lathams Nursery, Inc in 1969. His willingness to work long hours, in all conditions, made it possible to be the successful business it still is today. His reach, both personal and professional touched many lives throughout his 86 years. A passion for hunting, fishing, searching for Indian artifacts and traveling with family and friends took him on many countless adventures. Johnny is survived by his loving wife Judy Rushing Latham, two sons, Clancy Baucom, wife Kim, and Hunter Latham; two brothers, Roger Latham and David Latham (Manetta Williams) two sisters, Helen Jane McCaskill and Lorna Price (Hank); five granddaughters, Kendra Baucom, Callie Baucom, Carmen Baucom, Ellie Latham and Anna Latham. The family will receive friends from 7:00PM until 9:00PM, Monday, July 12, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2613 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110, or Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region PO BOX 470408 Charlotte, NC 28247.
