Joseph Wayne Cox, 23, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born in Union County on June 23, 1992, son of Robert Allen Cox and Loma Annette Phifer. Funeral services will be Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox is survived by his son, Joseph Dillon Cox of Monroe, brother, Michael Allen Cox of Monroe; half-brother, Jeffery Thomas Short of Monroe, step-mother, Cora Cagle Cox of Monroe, step-brother, Talan Haigler of Unionville and step-sister, Genevia Morgan of Monroe.
