Joseph Ronald Griffin Ron MONROE - Joseph Ronald Ron Griffin, 76 passed away Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born November 14, 1936, in Alamance County, NC, son to the late Joseph Kelsie Griffin and Mildred Durham Griffin Wagoner. He is also preceded in death by his wife Nancy Lee Holliman Griffin, step father Robert Wagoner, and an infant son Todd Griffin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2013, in First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Ron was an US Air Force veteran, and retired in 1998 as Director of Public Works from the City of Monroe. He then worked for Morrison Appraisal until 2010. Ron loved his family and his church, and was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe for almost 50 years. He served as Clerk of Session, Elder, Deacon, member of the choir, Sunday School Teacher, cook, and volunteered in countless other capacities. In 2012 he was named Elder Emeritus, the highest lay honor in the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two sons, Rob Griffin, wife Charlotte of Raleigh, Shan Griffin, wife Shelley of Charlotte, and three grandsons, Zack, Davis, and Sam Griffin, all of Raleigh. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 7, 2013, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
