Joyce Young Parr, 88, passed away on April 25, 2026. She was born in Madison Township, Pennsylvania, on December 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Paul Michael Young and Francis Beavers Young. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Lesley William Parr; her sister, Janet P. Morris; and her husband’s children, Leslie Parr Kolivas and Terry William Parr.
Mrs. Parr was educated at Newton High School in Newton, New Jersey. She worked as an assistant manager for LJ Parr Trucking Company in New Jersey and later as an administrative assistant for Tyson Foods in Monroe, North Carolina. In addition to her love of reading, baking, and the performing arts, she was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the Buzy Bees.
A memorial service will be held on May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with Reverend Hugo Villagrana officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Parr is survived by her beloved family, Denise Morris Driesse (Lenny) and Diane Beatty, both of Newton, New Jersey; Diane Moser (Wayne) of Monroe, North Carolina, William Parr of Branchville, New Jersey, Chris Parr (Lisa) of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Greg Parr (Bonnie) of Marshville, North Carolina; Jocelyn Decker of Waxhaw, North Carolina; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5300 Nesbit Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173; or Hospice and Palliative Care Union, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
