Joyce Elaine (Oliver) Ritch

Joyce Elaine Oliver Ritch, 64 of Monroe, NC, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at CMC-Union. Joyce was the daughter of the late Joe Gary Oliver and Sally Pauline Oliver both of Charlotte, NC. Joyce was survived by her husband of 46 years, Richard Ritch, Sr. of the home and children Cindy Ritch (Shannon) of Indian Trail, NC and Richard Ritch Jr. (Lesley) of Charlotte, NC. She had 5 grandchildren, Justin ( Ericka) , Brooke, Katelyn, Adam and Tyler. She had 1 great grandson, Bentley. Joyce was also survived by her sister, JoAnn Britt ( Frank) of Concord, NC, Bobby Oliver of Matthews, NC and Gene Oliver (Jackie) of Indian Trail, NC and the late Bruce Oliver of Charlotte, NC. She also has two best friends that she was very close to. Sonya Josey of Monroe, NC and Thomas Helms of the home. She has 2 dogs that she spoiled and loved very much, Susie and Little Bit. Joyce loved to play Bingo, read, play cards and shop. She was a active member of Faith Baptist Church of Indian Trail, NC. Joyce worked multiple jobs throughout her life. In 1969 she met the love of her life working at Johnson cotton mill in Charlotte. On December 20, 1970 they became husband and wife. At retirement Joyce ran Twin Harbor Cafe' in Mt. Gilead, NC. Joyce was survived by many brother and sister in law's, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Joyce always opened her home to anyone in need. Over the years she took in many people. Joyce had lots of friends in and around the North Charlotte area. She loved meeting people and never met a stranger as everyone became a friend to her. A celebration of her life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Indian Trail, NC. Viewing will be from 4:00 pm until 5:45 pm and at 6:00 pm we will have a memorial service honoring her life. Rev. Donnie Crump will officiate in the absence of Rev. Ken Crump. The service is open to the public. Any memorials can be made to Faith Baptist Church or American Heart Association in her honor.
