Juanita Chandler Scott

Juanita Chandler Scott, 86, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was currently residing with her daughter and caregiver Kimberly of Matthews, NC. She was born August 29, 1937, in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of the late James and Dora Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Dudley Scott, Sr., and sisters, Pinky Ricks and Ruby Hamilton of Rockingham, NC.

A visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a life-long member, 2301 N. Rocky River Rd., Monroe, NC 28110.

Ms. Scott is survived by her sons, Dudley Scott, Jr. (Teresa) and Eric Scott (Elisha); daughters, Kimberly Scott and Sonja Winebarger (Jeff); grandchildren, Jeremy Scott, Jordan Scott (Morgan), Matthew Scott (Abby), Gabriella Illuminati (Tim) and Jared Winebarger; three great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her devotions were not only to her family but extended to the neighborhood children of Helms Park. Her love of children carried through to employment with Jack and Jill Nursery and in-home childcare for many years. She was an avid baker who shared her gift of hospitality and love for others. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and let’s not forget her love and support of her local department store, Belk. She was blessed to have wonderful neighbors through the years and the family would like to extend their warmest gratitude for their love and support. The family would also like to extend their sincerest gratitude to her medical staff for their devoted care of our mother through the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
