K. C. Long

Mr. K. C. Long, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was born in Union County, NC on September 6, 1921 son of the late Lawrence Edward and Odessa Secrest Long. Mr. Long served on the Board of Directors for the American Children’s Home, Lexington, NC, and the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association and was one of the original organizers of the Bakers Volunteer Fire Dept. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM in New Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Collins Long. He is survived by a son, Kenneth C. Long and wife Phyllis of Monroe, and a grandchild, Dr. Charles Richardson. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 M at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. The family would like to thank the staff of Carillon Assisted Living for the loving care of their father. Memorials may be made to the American Children’s Home, P O Box 1288, Lexington, NC.
