March 17, 1929 - December 9, 2020 Kathryn Marie Kyker McRorie, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2020. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Eliza Murl McKee Kyker. At the time of her death, she lived in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. Marie was a member of Daisy Methodist Church in Soddy Daisy. Prior to that, she served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Monroe, North Carolina. She was employed at the Maryland Parks and Planning Commission in Riverdale, Maryland for several years. She always looked forward to visits from family members and close friends and enjoyed preparing meals for such large gatherings. Marie was an avid player of Pinochle, Scrabble, and Bingo. Snuggling and playing with her dog, Shorty, was always a pleasure. She spent the last four years of her life at the Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center - always enjoying the many activities provided by the facility. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Kathy Eagan, her husband, J. W. McRorie, and her sister, Frances Kyker Broome. Survivors include son Charlie McRorie (Dianne), daughter Patricia Alden (Bob), son John McRorie (Susan), and son Leon McRorie (Tom). She was blessed with ten grandchildren - Adam McRorie (Amy), Amy Blankenship (Todd), Marie Burrows, Johnson McRorie (Rachel), Aaron McRorie (Theresa), Luke McRorie, Larken McRorie, Dawn Eagan (Jerri Ann), Kevin Eagan, and Katie Schenck (Brian). She also was graced with eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her family also included brother-in-law Arnold Bivens (Vicki) and sister-in-law Peggy Myers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center for the love they shared with Marie during her four-year residency. Due to the current Covid-19 concerns, service will be held for only family and friends at First Baptist Church of Monroe, with burial to follow Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held sometime in 2021. There is an opening visitation for family and friends to pay their respects on Sunday, December 12, 2020 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
