Kathy was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving others through her work with the North Carolina Division of Social Services. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the state, she was honored with the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Mike Easley.
It was during her career that Kathy met the love of her life, Ed. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, raising two children and later welcoming five beloved grandchildren. Kathy cherished her family above all else and treasured every moment spent with them. She especially looked forward to their annual trips to Holden Beach, where she found peace listening to the sound of the waves.
Another of Kathy’s great passions was music—particularly the folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary. She attended every concert she could and passed on her deep love of music to her family, leaving behind not just memories, but melodies that will live on through those she loved.
