Kay Herndon Perry of Wingate passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 after an extended illness at the age of 65. She was born on November 1, 1950 in Laurinburg, North Carolina to the late William and Betty Herndon. The family will visit with friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, May, 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Marshville at 1636 Old Highway 74, Marshville, NC 28103. A private service will be held at a later date. A retired teacher from Union County Schools, Kay was a beautiful, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She married Charles and the couple moved to Union County, where both made a career within the school system, with Kay working at Forest Hills High School and teaching at Wingate Elementary and East Union Middle School. Mrs. Perry leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Charles F. Perry, daughters, Amy Blanchard (Dryw) of Indian Trail, Erin Hinson (Jody) of Wilmington, a son, Steven Perry of Boone, and four beloved grandchildren, Ben Blanchard, Lily Hinson, Liam Perry, and Jasper Hinson. Mrs. Perry is also survived by a brother, William Herndon, Jr. of Red Springs, NC. Kay loved her family, time spent at the beach, trips to New England, shopping for bargains, going to the movies, all animals, and a good nap.
