Kent Chapman, 74, of Monroe, NC passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was born in Willows, CA on December 16, 1947, son to the late Edward Chapman and Marilynn Chapman.
A memorial service will be held on July 31 at 3:00 pm at Oakland Baptist Church, 600 E Sunset Drive, Monroe NC. Visitation will follow the service in the church sanctuary. The church and family would like to request masks be worn during the service for safety. Masks will be provided.
Kent moved to Union County in 1981 after serving his country in the United States Army where he was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He worked in the banking industry with ATMs and retired after 38 years of service. He served the Lord and his church as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, as well as singing in the Church Choir. Kent enjoyed bowling in a league in his younger years, and in his free time he enjoyed watching sports, photography and traveling, which included all 50 states. He was a very giving person and participated in various mission projects, and was a regular blood donor.
Kent was a loving Christian husband and father and he dearly loved his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nancy Chapman, two daughters; Stacey Chapman Vargas (Angel) of Waxhaw, Shelley Chapman Wilson (Darren) of New Hope, PA, and sister Judy Chapman McCune (Bob) of Summerville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Oakland Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 600 E. Sunset Dr, Monroe, NC 28112 or Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
