MONROE, NC -- Miss Kristen Alexandra (“Alex”) Kahle, 17, of Monroe, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend, departed this life on Sunday, November 4, 2007, in Monroe, North Carolina, following a motor vehicle accident. Born in Union County on March 19, 1990, Alex was the only child born to Richard Hollis Kahle and Patricia Ann Trussell Kahle, who survive in Monroe. Alex was a senior at Porter Ridge High School at Indian Trail, where she was recently selected as her school’s 2007 representative to the Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade and scholarship program. At Porter Ridge, Alex was President of the Student Council and a varsity cheerleader. She was a junior marshal, a member of the Superintendent’s Students Advisory Council, Interact, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, and the National English Honor Society. She received the Union County Academic Excellence Award and the Cheerleading Academic Achievement Award and was a Rotary Scholar. Alex served in the Children’s Ministry of Elevation Church, Charlotte. She planned to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a career as an oncology nurse. In her short life, Alex's energy, creativity, courage, integrity, confidence, perception, love for others, faith, and kindness touched many lives and will live in the memories of her family and host of friends. Accomplished in many areas at her school, she sought out the best in others and delighted in the successful accomplishments of her classmates at Porter Ridge, for whom her family will be indebted for their compassionate concern. The Alex Kahle Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in her memory at Citizens South Bank, where her mother is Senior Vice President. Alex is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Wanda Lott of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and her brother, Anthony Kahle of Columbia, South Carolina.
