L. Thomas Faulkenberry

Wingate, NC L. Thomas Faulkenberry, 77, of Wingate, NC, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Harris Hospice Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC, following a massive stroke. Born in Kershaw, SC, November 24, 1928, he was the son of the late David Finley and Alice Catoe Faulkenberry. Mr. Faulkenberry served this community as a former teacher, pastor and swimming instructor and was most recently assisting families through his work at Monroe Monuments. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and two sisters, Barbara Truesdell and Annie Young of Kershaw, SC. His ministry continues through his children, Dr. Richard Taylor of Monroe, NC, Charley Faulkenberry of Fort Mill, SC, Mike Faulkenberry of West Palm Beach, Florida, Wanda Ashworth of Homestead, FL, and Carol Fowler of Mt. Pleasant, NC. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Lori Duncan, Rich Taylor, Deck, Laura and Joey Haigler, Joshua and Ashley Fowler, Ana Kate Faulkenberry, Bella Thomas, and Trey and Tiffany Blood. Family visitation will be at Austin Grove Baptist Church, Marshville, on Sunday, August 13, 2006 from 1:00 until 2:30 PM. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 3:00 PM, with burial at Lakeland Memorial Park. Gordon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
