Larry Vance Rushing

Larry Vance Rushing, 80, of Monroe, NC passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was born in Union County on May 4, 1941 son to the late Vance Fanander Rushing and Mary Gertrude Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his three brothers Fanander Rushing, Raeford Rushing and Norman Rushing, sister Mary Lee Medlin.

Larry worked as a Machinist and earned an Apprenticeship in the trade. He was a Mason and served in the Masonic Lodge #244 and a member of the Oasis Shriners. He was a member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church and served as a trustee for several years. His hobbies were hunting and gardening. Most of all Larry loved spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in state from 1:00PM until 2:00PM prior to the service. Family requests masks to be worn for all services.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Carolyn King Rushing and his children Michael Dowd Rushing (Douglas) and Mary Annette Tarlton, step children Roger Baucom (Susan) and Angelia Brown (Brian), brother J. Hue Rushing (Belva), five grandchildren, Justin Tarlton (Jennifer), Jessica Garris (Phillip), Madison Brown, Kelsey Brown and Rebekah Baucom, four great grandchildren, Gabriel Garris, Lane Garris, Christopher Garris and Emma Garris, and his faithful companion Roxie.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
