Larry Clyde Simpson, 79, of Indian Trail, took his heavenly Father's hand and entered into his eternal home on June 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. We are thankful for God's promise in his word that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We know that he is now rejoicing in heaven. Larry was born May 30th, 1937 in Monroe, NC to the late Baxter Clyde Simpson and Vergie Price Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his son, Michael Dale Simpson and his brother, Steve Simpson Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 17, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Ken Simpson, officiating. Burial will follow at Price Cemetery. Mr. Simpson was a lifelong resident of Union County and was loved, admired and respected by all those he had the opportunity to meet. His love for his family was beyond measure. He married the love of his life, Mellie Fowler Simpson on July 14th, 1956 and together they raised four sons. He took great pride in his sons and was an active participant in their lives. He enjoyed their accomplishments and was there to cheer them on in whatever endeavor they chose. He was a proud Pawpaw. He spent quality time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them with love and by example valuable life lessons. An avid outdoorsman Mr. Simpson enjoyed hunting and riding horses in his younger days and when his health permitted. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing it with his friends and family when they stopped by to visit. In his retirement years and beyond, through many health obstacles Mr. Simpson lived a life of determination, always with a positive attitude. Most importantly he lived a life of great faith in God. He will be missed by a multitude of lifelong friends and family. He went to school at Unionville in Monroe, NC, and worked in management and sales for 40 years. He served as a deacon for many years at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Larry is survived by his wife, Mellie Fowler Simpson, three sons Doug Simpson, Alan Simpson wife Kim, Chris Simpson wife Brenda, his daughter-in-law Jane Simpson, grandchildren: Brandi Baldwin, Eric Simpson, Laura Simpson, Bailey Simpson, Trey Simpson, Carissa Simpson, Garrison Simpson, and a great-grandchild Walker Baldwin, his siblings: Linda Griffin, Johnny Simpson, Lucy Benton, Alice Britt, Reba Geiger, Merle Coffey, and Carey Simpson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Indian Trail, NC. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1417 W.
