Memorial Service
Rehobeth Presbyterian Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Larry Keith Sims Sr. was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 83. Larry was born on August 19, 1942. Larry is the son of the late Billy Austin Sims and Madeline Newell Sims. He was preceded in death also by his brother, Billy Ray Sims, sisters, Jerri Lynn Winchester Sims, and Sandi Sims Whitley.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Rehobeth Presbyterian Church, 5919 Rehobeth Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173, with private burial in Waxhaw City Cemetery.
Larry lived a full life as a quiet, dedicated Christian, letting his actions be a testament to his faith and a guide for his family and friends on how to do God's work. His greatest Christian accomplishment was simply being a deeply loving husband to his late wife, Margaret Crockett Sims, a devoted father to his children, and a cornerstone for his entire family and wide circle of friends.
Larry was a true example of the gospel, embodying the call to help lift others in need. He lived his life quietly and consistently doing this through his actions, never seeking praise or recognition. He was known as a leader, a mentor, and a steadfast friend to everyone whose life he touched. One of his defining and greatest accomplishments was the quiet kindness and respect with which he treated everyone he met.
Larry is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Amy Sims Gregory (husband David Gregory), and his son, Larry Keith Sims Jr (wife Cheryl Lynn Sims). He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Bailey Sims Mize (husband Jeremy Mize); step grandson, Justin Gregory (Wife Kacey and son Waylon), his brother, Ricky Newell Sims (wife Belinda Sims); his sister, Sherri Sims Springs and Sister-in-law Elaine Sims. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members.
The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude and recognize the special woman and her family who became such an integral part of Larry's life over the last several years: Ravonne Morris Pender, and her family. Ravonne loved Larry and cared for him with unwavering devotion during his health decline due to cancer and other issues. Ravonne and her family were a shining light in his life.
Ravonne, the family loves you for loving Larry. Your love and care for him helped him live a full life while you and your family were in his, and our lives. Words are not enough, but we thank you for coming into his life and our lives."
