Larry Dean Voncannon

Larry Dean VonCannon, 82, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was born December 12, 1934 in Richmond County, NC, son to the late Malcolm Ethel Rose Lassiter VonCannon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Mill Creek Baptist Church, 5417 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe NC 28110. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service. Larry was a graduate of Gardner Webb College and Appalachian State Teacher’s College. He taught school and coached football in N. Augusta, SC before moving back to the Charlotte area and working for Roadway Express for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading, restoring classic cars, gardening and helping others. Larry was survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean Johnson VonCannon, two sons, Terry VonCannon, wife Kim, of Charlotte, Tommy VonCannon of Atlanta, daughter Kristy Brannock, husband Jody of Wesley Chapel, sister Reba Moser of Matthews, two grandsons Zach VonCannon, and Aaron Brannock. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses from Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Charlotte as well as the caregivers of Home Instead, Monroe, NC, who showed great care and compassion, and all of those who visited and sent card during his time of sickness.
