Larry Gene Wayland

Larry Gene Wayland, 59, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 13, 2016. He was born May 9, 1957, in Mecklenburg County to Anna Frances Williams Wayland and the late John Houston Wayland. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents F. T. Williams and Mildred Williams; and a brother Joel Wayland. Mr. Wayland was a heavy equipment operator for CC Site Works. He was a musician and drummer, played with several local bands, and was the current drummer with a band known as Lipstick on a Pig. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016, 4:00 PM at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 1106 W. Sandy Ridge Rd, Monroe, NC 28112. Burial will follow at in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife Nicole “Nicki” Tweed Wayland, daughter Kimberlyn Wayland of Charlotte; mother Anna Frances Williams Wayland of Wingate, grandmother Lillie Belle Ragan of Gastonia; sister Kimberly “Kim” Hilton, and husband William of Wingate, sister-in-laws, Wendy Tweed, of Knoxville, TN and Heather Thompson and husband Joe of Mint Hill; mother-in-law, Jane Tweed of Mint Hill; many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and extended friends and his beloved dogs that he loved dearly. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016, 6:00-8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
