A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 in St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270, with inurnment in the church columbarium.
Laurie had three passions in her life. First and most important was the love and caring of her boys. Matt, Chris and Kyle grew up with their mom always in their corner, laughing with them, crying with them and rooting for them to be strong Christian men. When the family grew, she smiled every moment she had with her new daughters and beamed holding her grandchildren.
Laurie genuinely loved people. She never knew a stranger and was energized by the people around her. She just loved large gatherings of friends and family, her “bridge group” family and the close friends that held her up no matter the situation. Laurie cherished the friends that calmed her when she was confused and were there for her no matter the need. She gave of her time whenever asked to help those around her whether they be a friend or a stranger.
Finally, Laurie was a competitor. Whether on the tennis court in a weekly match or two, or playing board games with her family and friends, Laurie played to win. She instilled this attitude in her boys.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Kevin Patrick “Pat” McCormick, their three sons, Matthew “Matt” McCormick (Maggie), Christopher McCormick, and Kyle McCormick (Samantha); brother, Mark Badgley (Jan); three sisters, Nancy Jones, Sally Dolch (Ron), and Amy Macumber (Michael); two grandchildren, Bailey Grace McCormick and Charles Patrick McCormick, as well as a third grandchild due in June, and numerous nieces and nephews.
