Leola Baucom (Lee) Goodall

LeOla (Lee) Baucom Goodall, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2008, from chronic lung and heart illness. She was born May 2, 1926, in Monroe, North Carolina, to the late Victor and Ola Baucom. She attended Union School and Wingate College. On June 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Will Edward (Bill) Goodall, of Lebanon, Tennessee. She met her husband of 65 years while he was stationed at Monroe’s Camp Sutton during WWII. Lee is survived by her husband, Bill, her sons and their wives, Eddie and Carol and Jeff and Lonna; six grandchildren, Jay (Laura) Goodall, Jeff (Amber) Goodall, Heather (Ken) Bryson, Jessica Goodall, Claire Goodall, and Justin Goodall; one great-granddaughter, Laya, five great-grandsons, Jeffrey III, Park, Beau, Harrison, and Christian; and one sister, Evelyn Funderburk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by another son, Albert Ronald (Ron), five brothers; Keith, Andrew, Victor “VC”, Harold, and Linus; and three sisters, Alma Smith, Aileen Collins, and Mae Talbert. Funeral services for Lee Goodall will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, October 13, at Union Baptist Church, her beloved church home, 4308 Old Pageland-Monroe Road, Monroe, NC 28112. Rev. Travis Cain and Rev. Joe Mullis will officiate. Burial will be immediately following the service at Union Baptist Church cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation at Gordon Funeral Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, on Sunday from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, at Mrs. Goodall’s request, memorial funds have been established in her name for the Union Baptist Church- Building Fund and may be sent to the church at the address above.
