Leon Helms

Leon Helms, 81, of Monroe, NC was called home to Heaven where he was looking forward to reuniting with his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Helms. Born February 29, 1940 to the late Glenn and Hattie Helms, Leon lived and worked his entire life in Union County. Funeral services will be held at Secrest Grove Baptist Church, 4505 Weddington Road, Monroe, NC 28110, on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00PM with visitation prior to the service from 12:00PM until 1:45PM in the church. He was a successful businessman, a devoted Christian, a generous helper to anyone in need, and a lifelong friend to many. He most loved spending time with his nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, operating heavy equipment and serving in his church. He will be fondly remembered by his children Michael and wife Kimberly, Scott and wife Tara, Rodney and wife Lisa; grandchildren Bradley, Taylor, Nick, Kate and Leah Helms, Matthew and wife Laura, Kristy Short, Michelle and husband Bryan Thomas, Melanie and husband Justin Hill; and great grandchildren Gavin and Kinsley Short, Elizabeth and James Thomas, and Caroline Hill. Leon lived his life unapologetically, served his Lord humbly and loved his family fiercely. He will be greatly missed.
