Monroe, NC Leonard “Bud” Redlinger Bud Redlinger passed away in his home in Monroe, NC on Wednesday July 8, 2009. He was born December 4, 1922 in Keokuk County, Iowa. He is survived by his beloved family including his wife of sixty years, Sherry Redlinger, 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His children include Mark and Deborah Redlinger of Tifton, GA, Ron Redlinger of Warner Robins, GA, and Steve and Julie Redlinger of Savannah, GA; Holly and Dan Prouty, Mary Jensen, Bonnie and David Shaw all of Monroe, NC. His grandchildren include Mary Elizabeth, Michael, Matthew and Michelle Prouty, David and Jason Shaw, Meagan and Madison Redlinger, Kenny and Dani Jensen, Kristy Redlinger, Marcus and Jamie Redlinger, Kelly Redlinger, Kyle and Maria Rutland, Ryan and Meredith Rutland. His great grandchildren include Piper, Kaylynn, and Gracie Redlinger, Will Rutland, Brittany Heyd, Ashley Weekly, and Sarah Perine. Bud was a retired research entomologist for the United States government. He received the Superior Service award in 1983 from the Department of Agriculture for his many years of work on international shipboard grain fumigation. During his career, he published numerous scientific papers to document his research. Bud was a naturalist and Master Gardener and spent his retirement years creating habitats for the deer, birds, and other animals on their woodland property. During his life, he received many awards including ‘Who’s Who Among Americas Colleges and Universities’, the Golden Peanut Award, and the Paul Harris Fellow from the International Rotary Club. He served in numerous civic organizations including the Rotary Club and Boy Scouts of America. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 11, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes CatholicChurch, burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. A Rosary service will be held Friday July 10th at 6:45 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. The Family will have visitation following from 7:00 til 8:30 PM at Gordon Funeral Cremation 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 21118.
